A comfortable sleeping space makes a difference to how your dog rests throughout the day. Whether your dog enjoys curling up or stretching out, choosing the right bed size is an important part of creating a relaxing place of their own.

Our medium dog beds measure 90 × 70 cm and are designed for medium-sized breeds such as Beagles, Cocker Spaniels and Border Collies. Each bed combines an inner cushion filled with approximately 120 litres of refillable EPS beads with a removable outer cover in your choice of fabric and colour.

Which dogs are suited to a medium dog bed?

Our Medium collection is designed for dogs that need more room than a Small bed provides, but do not require the larger sleeping surface of our Large size.

    Breed examples include:

    • Beagle: Medium 90 × 70 cm provides a comfortable resting area for this active scent hound.
    • Cocker Spaniel: A suitable size for stretching out or sleeping curled up.
    • Border Collie: Our recommended Medium size for this energetic herding breed.
    • Shetland Sheepdog: A practical sleeping space for this medium-sized companion.
    • Kooikerhondje: Medium offers a comfortable area for this Dutch spaniel breed.
    • Welsh Springer Spaniel: A suitable size for resting after walks and outdoor activities.
    • English Springer Spaniel: Another breed included in our Medium size recommendations.
    • Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever: Medium is a useful starting point when comparing bed dimensions.

Your dog's breed provides a helpful guide, but individual dogs can differ in body length and sleeping habits.

Choose the size based on breed, body length and preferred sleeping position. Your dog should be able to lie fully stretched out without their head or paws hanging over the edge.

How much space does a 90 × 70 cm dog bed provide?

A Medium dog bed offers a sleeping surface measuring 90 cm long and 70 cm wide.

This gives medium-sized dogs room to change position throughout the day, whether they prefer lying on their side, curling into a ball or stretching their legs.

Before choosing a size, observe how your dog normally sleeps. A dog that regularly stretches out may need more space than one that usually curls up.

What makes our EPS bead filling different?

Inside every Medium dog bed is a separate cushion filled with approximately 120 litres of small, round EPS beads.

Unlike a solid foam insert, the individual beads can move as your dog changes position. The filling redistributes itself and adapts to the shape of your dog's body, creating a flexible and supportive sleeping surface.

EPS beads are lightweight, insulating and refillable.

Adjust the filling to suit your dog

The ideal amount of filling can vary depending on your dog's size and how they prefer to rest.

If the bed feels too high or firm, carefully remove a small amount of EPS beads.

If the cushion becomes flatter after extended use, you can add fresh beads to restore its volume.

This makes it possible to adjust the bed without replacing the entire cushion.

Find the right fabric for your medium dog bed

Your dog's bed is part of your home, so the outer cover matters just as much as the sleeping surface.

Dog's Companion offers a wide selection of materials, colours and patterns for the Medium collection.

    Corduroy for texture and warmth

Our corduroy range includes several distinctive textures.

Giant Corduroy has a wide ribbed structure and is made from polyester. Double Corduroy is made from cotton, while Soft Corduroy features a finer ribbed texture.

Cotton canvas for a natural look

Our canvas covers are made from 100% cotton and are available in a variety of colours.

The woven fabric creates a simple, versatile appearance that suits many interiors. Cotton canvas is not water-repellent.

    Woven checks, tartan and stripes

If you prefer a patterned dog bed, choose from classic checks, tartans and striped fabrics.

Different patterns offer different textures and material compositions.

    Velvet, fleece and coated fabrics

Our collection also includes soft velvet, cosy fleece and practical coated fabrics.

Coated covers are water- and dirt-repellent, making them useful for everyday messes such as damp fur and muddy paws. They are not fully waterproof.

You can browse the collection by colour, material or pattern.

A removable cover makes everyday care easier

Every Medium dog bed consists of two separate parts:

    1. An inner cushion containing approximately 120 litres of EPS beads.
    2. A removable outer cover with a zip.

This design allows you to take off the cover for cleaning without replacing the filling.

Most fabric covers are machine washable, although the correct washing temperature depends on the material. Always follow the care label.

Faux leather covers should be wiped clean with a damp cloth rather than machine washed.

You can also change the appearance of the bed by choosing another colour or fabric.

A familiar resting place around the home

A Medium dog bed works well in a living room, bedroom or quiet area where your dog likes to settle.

Its lightweight EPS filling makes the cushion relatively easy to move between rooms. You can also take it along when visiting family or staying away from home, giving your dog a familiar place to rest.

If you want to place the bed inside a dog crate, check the crate's internal measurements first. The cushion must fit properly while allowing your dog enough space to lie comfortably.

Caring for your dog bed over time

Regular maintenance helps keep your dog's bed comfortable and clean.

Remove the outer cover when it needs washing and follow the instructions for the selected fabric.

The inner cushion can also be cleaned with water without removing the EPS beads. Allow it to dry completely before replacing the outer cover.

After prolonged use, the filling may gradually lose some volume. Adding fresh EPS beads can help restore the bed's preferred height and firmness.

Because both the filling and the cover can be maintained separately, you can continue using the same inner cushion for a long time.

Frequently asked questions about medium dog beds

What size is a Medium dog bed?

Our Medium dog beds measure 90 × 70 cm and contain approximately 120 litres of EPS beads.

Which breeds are suited to a Medium dog bed?

Examples include Beagles, Cocker Spaniels, Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, Kooikerhondjes, Welsh Springer Spaniels and English Springer Spaniels. Always consider your individual dog's body length and sleeping position.

Is a 90 × 70 cm dog bed suitable for a Border Collie?

Medium 90 × 70 cm is our recommended size for Border Collies. Check that your dog can lie fully stretched out without their head or paws extending beyond the cushion.

What is the difference between Medium and Large?

Medium measures 90 × 70 cm and contains approximately 120 litres of EPS beads. Large measures 115 × 85 cm and contains approximately 175 litres. Large provides a greater sleeping area for bigger breeds such as Labradors and Golden Retrievers.

    Is a 90 × 70 cm bed the same as a 100 × 70 cm bed?

No. A 100 × 70 cm bed is 10 cm longer and provides more surface area. Choose the size that allows your dog to stretch out comfortably.

Can I change the amount of filling?

Yes. You can remove EPS beads if the cushion feels too firm or add more when the filling loses volume.

    Are the covers machine washable?

Most fabric covers are machine washable according to their care labels. Faux leather covers should be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Can I buy a replacement cover?

Yes. Replacement covers are available separately in a range of fabrics and colours.

Are medium dog beds suitable for older dogs?

Yes. The flexible EPS filling adapts to different resting positions and provides comfortable support. For dogs with specific joint or mobility conditions, consult your veterinarian for individual advice.

Are coated dog bed covers waterproof?

No. Our coated fabrics are water- and dirt-repellent, but they are not completely waterproof. Protect the cushion from prolonged exposure to rain.
