Determining the Size of a Dog Collar

When buying a leather dog collar, it's important to know the circumference that the collar needs to have. A dog collar should primarily fit comfortably. Therefore, it’s important to measure your dog’s neck loosely.

Take a flexible measuring tape and measure the circumference of your dog's neck around the shoulders. The collar should fit snugly, but also comfortably. You can use the rule that you should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck. Add a maximum of 5 cm to this measurement. This will be the collar size. Alternatively, you can measure your dog's current collar.

Leather is a popular material that is also very comfortable around the dog’s neck. The collar you buy should have enough space around your dog’s neck. Think about one to one and a half centimeters (two fingers side by side). Also, ensure that the leather collar is wide enough to avoid it "cutting" into your dog’s neck. With this space, your dog won’t feel burdened by the collar and it will be comfortable to wear.

The leather collar is adjustable via the holes. The distance from the pin of the buckle to the last hole represents the maximum adjustable length.

Maintenance

Nappa leather has already been treated with oil for water resistance. Nappa leather is naturally very stretchable, so it dries out and cracks much less quickly than other types of leather. We recommend maintaining this product with leather oil or leather cream.
